Typically I work on my projects in the early morning for a couple hours before I start my job. My goal is to post my progress here so that you can see how each project is progressing.

"River" coffee table completed and delivered.

posted Mar 8, 2015, 10:21 AM by Tinkering Techie   [ updated Mar 8, 2015, 10:22 AM ]

It's been a few months since I finished this table, but I've been too busy to post the details. Here's the finished product:

and a video of the glass cutting:

It was for a wedding present that needed to be delivered 1,200 miles away and luckily everything made it there in one piece (well 5 pieces that had to be assembled). I'll post the "making of" album soon.

It took over a year to complete (too many interruptions), but it's finally finished. The full details, including a demonstration video are available here.

Laser Operational

I just finished the laser sight on the CNC Mill. I still need to calculate the offset and create a macro to "laser zero" in Mach3, but otherwise it's working well.

4th Axis finished

posted Jan 17, 2012, 1:28 PM by Tinkering Techie   [ updated Jan 20, 2012, 10:31 PM ]

I just finished assembling the 4th axis addition to the CNC Mill. I've taken pictures and some video of the process and should have them available soon. I also made some more tweaks to the mill itself that I will be documenting as well.

Initial CNC Mill Complete

After a few delays I've finally completed the CNC Mill. I still have a few things that I'd like to tweak and enhance, but otherwise it's fully functional. I'll be posting pictures and full documentation in the near future.

CNC Mill Nearly Complete

posted Aug 10, 2011, 6:30 AM by Tinkering Techie

I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on it, but I've still been slowly finishing the CNC mill. I've finished everything except dust collection and a horizontal clamping system. I'll post pictures soon, but the shop is too messy right now. I'll also be adding a full write up on the CNC Mill project page in the next few weeks. The software side of things hasn't changed much. I wrote a program that generates g-code for dovetail joints and once I've fine tuned it I'll make it available in the downloads section. I also wrote a rough version of the general purpose CAM software and used it to create the limit switch mounts. It worked well for that particular application, but I've gone back to the drawing board to make it more accurate and improve performance.
